This dark and experimental score melds Erin McKimm’s background in composition, electronic music and sound design. Both score and film were developed synergistically, from the first conceptual discussion with director, Wilson Huang, right through to the final marrying on the dub stage.

Beginning with memories of intimacy, internalised recordings of a century-old upright grand are enveloped with ambient granulated dubs. Low slung, pitch shifted cornet blasts, dystopian industrialised rhythms and death-metal screams usher in the underlying darkness. At it’s most terrifying, phase modulated sub frequencies underpin spiralling tortured contrabass shepherd tones, as an atonal scream-choir soars from the void.

An exploration of nihilistic noir, pulsing rhythms, dissonant clashes and nostalgic ambience.
